A Kentucky teenager died by suicide after being targeted in a scam involving AI-generated images. The tragedy has shaken many, highlighting the dangers that today’s youth face online and the devastating impact of digital harassment and shame. The digital age brings new challenges, and the pressure to navigate social media, peer expectations, and even malicious attacks can overwhelm even the strongest among us. As Christians, we grieve the loss of this young life and hold his family in our prayers. In moments like these, we wonder how to respond—how to process grief that feels senseless.  God’s nearness in our sorrow is a promise we can cling to, even when answers elude us.  This is the hope we hold onto as we mourn: a future where suffering is no more. If you or someone you know is struggling, know that you are not alone. Faith communities, counselors, and resources like the 988 Lifeline exist to help. Let us support one another, speak openly about mental health, and remind each other of the unfailing love and presence of Christ, even in our darkest moments.

The Christian Association for Survivors of Suicide Loss, Inc. (suicideloss.org) provides support to those who have lost a loved one to suicide through support groups and church support. If you are in crisis, dial 988 or 911 for assistance.
